In carpentry, the main types of materials used in joinery are MDF, plywood, MDP and agglomerate. MDF is a panel made of wood fibers with medium density. There are two types of plywood: multilaminate and plywood
The two are made up of several pressed blades glued together. The difference, however, is in the way this collage is made. In the laminate they are glued in the same direction, and in the laminate the internal sheets are glued in a different direction from the external ones, making the board more resistant.
Many joiners prefer to use plywood instead of MDF because it is more resistant to cracking, torsion, has great strength, does not shrink and is completely homogeneous, thus allowing to make large pieces without much difficulty.

Agglomerate is one of the cheapest materials, but it is not very resistant. It is formed from wood residues such as sawdust and powder glued through resin. Perhaps its only advantage is the fact that it can be coated with any type of material.
Types of joints and fitting
Half wood: simple fitting usually made in light structures, where the junction point will not have to support a heavy weight.
Holes and spikes: it is the most common and most used in carpentry work. It is very resistant, and therefore used in chairs, beds, doors, tables and windows. It consists of making a hole (female or hole) on one side of the piece in which the molded end of the other part (male or spike) is inserted.
Joint with soul: it serves to join two large pieces to make it a wider one. This procedure is necessary because there are no whole parts on the market with wide widths.
Joint with dowels: these joints are made of dry and hard wood. They are cylindrical pieces that can have smooth or fluted surface. To glue them it is necessary to use white glue.
Half miter: mainly used in frames that need to be joined at 45º in the corners to form a 90º right angle. A good example of this type of fitting is the frame.
Mortice: trapezoid-shaped fitting that is widely used in drawers, for example, because it allows greater resistance to pieces that are constantly displaced.
