Advantages of using a water pump for irrigation

Water plays the most crucial role in irrigation, but another essential task is to bring that water to the crops. So, a water pump is used to accomplish that task. It takes the water to the fields, constantly providing nourishment to the crops.

An irrigation pump takes the water from under the earth and uses pressure to take that water to the fields through different channels. Using a pump makes it easy for the farmers to provide water to their crops by preventing a lot of manual labour and waste of energy. There are different types of such pumps with different calibrations. So you need to have good knowledge about the requirements of your crops before you invest in a pump.

If you want to install water pumps for your crops, you must know about all the benefits of it:

    Flexibility

Water pumps in earlier times were not customisable, so farmers had to purchase a pump that met the water requirements of their crops. However, if the field required limited water, the valves of the pump could not be adjusted to operate at a lower speed. It was later resolved with the invention of the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), which allowed a pump to be customised as per the requirements. You can adjust the flow and pressure of water with the help of these VFDs in pumps. It is convenient for the farmer and helps them save a lot of energy.

    Water Conservation

Another important benefit of using VFD configured water pumps is that it helps conserve a lot of water. For example, if you use pumps without VFD, you won’t be able to adjust the pressure and flow and waste a lot of water. But with the help of these irrigation pumps configured with VFDs, you will save the water before it leaves the pump.

    Boostability

In early times, people used to shift between pumps with the help of a jockey, but it wouldn’t help them maintain the pressure and flow. But now, with the help of VFDs, there is no need for a jockey as all the smaller pumps can be integrated into one large pump that would help boost the ability of water supply throughout different crops. It can help in adjusting the pressure requirements of all the pumps.

    Economical

The irrigation pump does not cost you a lot of money as it preserves the electricity and can be installed easily. It can also be used with the help of tractor power or an internal combustion engine when there is a lack of power source, which makes it quite reliable and adaptable to different situations.

You can find all kinds of pumps available in the market, with different power configurations, added features and functionality, cost, and type. You can study about them and then invest in the one that meets all your requirements. You must not invest in anything that will only cause you a waste of time, money, and energy. For example, if you have a centrifugal pump requirement but end up buying a submersible pump, it will be a waste. Hence, it is best to study and research thoroughly before investing. You can also purchase pumps online as there are many vendors who sell pumps along with added services like installation and maintenance. So, do your research and find the deal that is best for you and your crops.
