    Multipin plug socket: Features and its types

    It affects the working life as well as the daily lives of average people to have a limited number of outlets at home or in their workplace, for example, by lowering the load, not being able to use more than two or three gadgets at the same time, increasing workload, etc. To overcome all these challenges, the demand for utilizing multi-pin plug sockets is increasing in homes and businesses. By inserting them into the main electricity supply, these sockets perform the transmission of electricity to several devices at the same time. These sockets are efficient as well as compact in size. It is available with multiple USB plugs, 2 pins, or 3 pins. Because of the rising demand for gadgets and the inability to connect different electrical appliances to specific plugs, many people choose these sockets.

    Features of Multipin Plug Sockets:

    • Several cables and wires are needed for this socket to function.
    • As per internal construction, the outside surface of the socket is simple, whereas the inside contains complex cabling.
    • The exterior is made from a two-layer PVC shell with several ports on opposing sides for connecting to gadgets.
    • These sockets are known for providing proper safety for the system. 
    • They are built in a cubical shape to offer better socket access from all sides while leaving the front half of the socket unoccupied to be plugged in for power supply.

    These sockets are divided into two types:

    1. Extension cords:

    • Extension cord sockets come in two- and three-hole configurations. 
    • Two conducting strips are connected to the external electrical socket using an extension cable of a long cable length. 
    • It helps when the cable length of any electrical device is small, and the switchboard is also a bit far away.  
    • Extension cords are available in various colors, thicknesses, lengths, and service duties. 
    • The thicker the chord they carry, the more wires within, and the more power demanded by gadgets.
    • When working outside, near oil, or being exposed to the sun for lengthy periods, it is critical to choose cords wisely.
    • This socket provides power to both electrical gadgets and appliances. 
    • They have a variety of sockets available with them for various plugs to connect to different equipment electrically.
    1. Industrial multi-plug sockets:

    • These sockets are employed with higher mains voltages and currents than the standard for household purposes. They are used in polyphase systems or during natural disaster protection. 
    • National rules and legislation control these sockets.
    • Electrical outlets in industrial environments are weatherproof, have waterproof sleeves, and are interlocked with a switch to prevent the unintended break-up of electrified plugs. 
    • Industrial plugs include an earth connection, but some do not have a neutral since three-phase loads, such as motors, do not require one. This category includes plugs with only four prongs. 
    • They are utilized on building sites when the wire connections are exposed to the elements or moist ground.
    • They are used in locations where wire connections are exposed to water.
    • They are also used in areas with a high possibility of partial floods and powerful waves.
